White Balance

White balance is a camera setting that everyone should use for consistently good results. White balance helps counter different colors coming in such as yellow or even blue. Even natural light comes on the blue and yellow spectrum. White balance is mainly used to correct color temperature. Finally, the reason why white balance is so important is because color causes lots of problems in photography.

  • Sunny, which works for mid-morning and mid-afternoon sun
  • Shade, which works for scenarios with heavy shade
  • Cloudy, which works for outdoor scenes featuring overcast lighting
  • Flash, which works for scenes lit by standard off-camera speedlights and pop-up flashes
  • Incandescent, which works for indoor scenes lit by standard warm bulbs
  • Fluorescent, which works for indoor scenes lit by fluorescent bulbs
